Why did you start
running ?? |
I started running at the club in 1988 after being persuaded by my brother that I could do quite well. I was a late starter in running terms joining the club at 16 years old. I was coached by Jim Reid at the time and won the Ayrshire Cross Country title and was 3rd in the National Cross Country in my first season.

Funniest Moment in
Athletics |
I was on placement with my work about many years ago when I went for a run on my first night in Preston. I was planning for going about 50 mins and ended up getting lost and running on and off for 3hrs. The worst of it is it cost me a fiver to get a taxi home as I had no idea where I was !!

Favourite Race and Why
?? |
The Ayrshire champs a few years ago, it was a windy day and the race ended up very tactical, I took it on with only 800m to go, breaking away slightly after a hill section and winding the pace up at the end to a sprint away at the end (proving tactics are as important as running fast).
I also managed to catch Bashier Hussein on the line in the final lap of the National Track 3000m steeplechase to take a Bronze medal.
But my favourite race to run in is probably the Troon 10K - very fast course good for running times (except for this year !!)
