Track and Field

Kilmarnock Harriers at the moment do not take part in the athletics leagues, but we do actively train and compete on the track at Open Graded Meetings and West District and National Championships.

We still have a lot of good athletes that run second claim in the top athletics leagues throughout Britain. Club athlete, James Tonner ran the fastest 1500m in the British Athletic League in 2001, clocking 3.45 for a club record when competing in the colours of Border Harriers. Allison Higgins also produced personal bests of 16.09 and 33.21 for the 5000m and 10,000m respectively in 2002, and gained a Commonwealth Games team for Scotland for the 10,000m in Manchester.

The club at the moment aims to develop the younger athletes and hopefully with improved numbers we will enter the leagues again and take Kilmarnock back to where they belong.

Above, is a picture of Allison Higgins powering her way to an impressive win at the 5000m at National Championships 2001 at Scotstoun.
